ICELAND

A Google Earth image showing the volcanic landscape in Iceland acted as the catalyst for this series of works, titled: Icelandic Landscapes, gong paintings which can ring.

Much like the flow of lava, the freezing and oxidising gives each piece its uniqueness.

Since the massive eruption of Iceland’s Eldfell Volcano in 1973, which McPeake witnessed on television in primary school, the artist has had a fascination with the country and its landscape.
